Matt Race

Mr. Race is the Vice President of the Building Services Team at Avanath Capital Management. Matt has 28 years of experience in the Facilities Management & Maintenance industry. In his current role at Avanath, Matt provides strategic leadership for identifying efficiency opportunities within the facilities and maintenance departments across the company. Matt leads the charge in consolidating all building services while standardizing procurement and maintenance operations.   Prior to joining Avanath, Matt was the VP, Facilities & Capital at Mandel Group, a developer and manager of luxury apartment communities. While at Mandel Group, Matt was responsible for the full oversight of the training & development of the onsite maintenance teams, asset management and CapEx/OpEx programs.   Matt has also held other positions as Director of Facilities at The Scion Group, CBRE, Expansive, Graham Enterprise all in the Chicago market. Prior to these positions, Matt has spent 20 years in the retail & commercial industry as a Facilities Manager working for Walgreens, Abercrombie & Fitch, Goodwill Industries and Chipotle Mexican Grill.   Matt holds a BS in Facility Management and an AAS in Architectural Technology at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. Mr. Race was elected and served on the Board of Directors for ConnexFM, a Multi-Site Facilities Management Association. Matt is a frequent guest speaker at association conferences and contributor of multiple magazine articles & online podcasts surrounding the best practices within the Facilities Management industry. He’s currently the Co-Chair of the Technology Council at ConnexFM identifying emerging technology & trends to share with the facilities association and beyond.
